Guided Canyoning

Canyoning Bosnia (Canyoning Hrcavka river)

Hrcavka canyoning takes you through a series of natural slides, jumps, and rappels in crystal-clear mountain water. The canyon cuts through ancient rock just minutes from Tjentiste, offering a raw and technical adventure for those who want more than a hike. Water temperatures stay between 4–9°C even in summer - wetsuits are provided.

About this canyoning

The Hrčavka is a 17-kilometre limestone gorge carved through the heart of Sutjeska National Park — a tributary of the Sutjeska River so narrow that in its tightest sections, sunlight reaches the water for only a few hours each day. The canyon drops sharply along its course through a sequence of waterfalls, natural slides, jumps and emerald pools that sit between 4 and 9°C year-round. Cold enough to feel every second of it. This is a canyoning route built for first-timers — technical enough to be genuinely memorable, guided well enough to be safe. Our groups are capped at 10 people, led by certified local guides who placed most of the anchor bolts on this route themselves, and run to European canyoning safety standards with full rescue equipment on every descent. The route runs through the core of the gorge and includes a series of jumps — 2m, 3m and 5m — a narrow technical slot section, and an 8-metre abseil rappel at the end of the descent. The finale is Hrčavka's own waterfall, a completely separate drop from the Skakavac in Perućica — raw, loud, and worth every cold metre of canyon that came before it. After the exit point, a 10-minute hike out brings you back to the vehicle and the drive back to base camp. Total experience from canyon entry to return is a full half-day.
